ABOUT THE PROJECT
I worked with writer / director Ben Majest through multiple stages of production for his short film, “Woke At Night”. Preproduction work included concepting, storyboarding, prop creation, and art assistance. Following the shoot I helped with generating a graphic treatment for the title, credits, and marketing materials, including a pitch packet. After release, Woke At Night was selected to be shown at multiple film festivals.
Animation test for opening credits. — The design of the credits was inspired by the chiaroscuro lighting of the film. Golden hues boldly appearing in a light sweep and then softly receding into a black palette evokes the personal, pensive tone of the story.
Woke at Night features two strong willed, opinionated, and articulate characters sharing both fierce and tender moments together. The typography should reflect that. The credit and title typography uses Neutraface. The font possesses a strong, almost architectural, structure with elegance. Decently wide tracking between letters gives and airy, fleeting feeling to the type

STORYBOARDS
Storyboard Animatic — This initial storyboard helped align members of the production of the directoral style and narrative the production hoped to achieve and helped guide discussions of how best to proceed.
PROP WORK
Worked with the art department to make a faux Harvard University diploma for the lead character. The printout was printed to scale, treated in a coffee staining process to add texture, and framed.
